How are bra sizes measured?
Measuring for a bra can be complicated. And, it’s hard to know if you’re wearing the wrong size. Chances are, if you have wrinkling in the cups, a band that rides up, cup spillage, or straps that won’t stay put, you’re probably wearing the wrong size.
The first step to measuring your bra size is determining your band size. While braless, measure the area directly under your bust. It’s important to round to the nearest whole number. So, if you measure 31.5, round to 32 inches.
If the number you measure is even, add four inches. If it’s odd, add five. This is your band size.
Confused? If you measure 32 inches, your band size is a 36. If you measure 33 inches, your band size is a 38.
The next step to measuring your bra size is determining your cup size. To do this, measure loosely around your breasts (at nipple level). Again, you’re going to want to round to the nearest whole number.
To figure out your bra size, subtract your band size from your bust measurement and look at the bust minus band difference chart. So if your bust size is 34 inches and your band size is 32 inches (34-32=2 inches). That’s a 34B.
